GTO晶闸管的基本结构和SCR类似,它的三个极也是:阳极(A)、阴极(K)和门极(G)。其图行符号也和SCR相似,只是在门极上加一短线,以示区别。GTO晶闸管的基本电路和工作特点是:①在门极G上加正电压或正脉冲(开关S和至位置1)GTO晶闸管即导通。其后,即使撤消控制信号(开关回到位置0),GTO晶闸管仍保持导通。可见,GTO晶闸管的导通过程和SCR的导通过程完全相同。②如在G、K间加入反向电压或较强的反向脉冲(开关和至位置2),可使GTO晶闸管关断。用GTO晶闸管作为逆变器件取得了较为满意的结果,但其关断控制较易失败,故仍较复杂,工作频率也不够高。而几乎是与此同时,大功率管(GTR)迅速发展了起来。
