据智通财经，工银认为，民航局的风险警示将严重损害国泰航空的安全品牌认知。8月9日，国泰航空遭到民航局警告。经了解分析后，民航局认为香港国泰航空先后发生飞行人员行为过激却未被停止飞行活动，以及恶意泄露航班旅客信息等事件，存在严重威胁航空安全的隐患。

民航局续称，从8月11日起，任何国泰航空公司未经内地航空管理局批准的航班都将被禁止进入内地领空。虽然在2019年上半年国泰航空的内地可用座位公里总量仅占该公司航线中7%左右，但其绝大多数航线必须经过内地领空，并将受到同样的监督审查。

工银认为，此次事件将不可逆转地损害了国泰航空品牌形象，而且内地客户对该公司的发展重要性日益增加。公关危机缺乏连贯性也不利于国泰航空公众形象。国泰航空未能妥善地维护其公众形象。国泰航空于8月7日表示尊重员工参与抗议活动，并表示“肯定不会干涉别人想法”。然而，在民航局发出警告不久后，国泰航空似乎就改变了立场。8月10日，国泰航空宣布将一名抗议活动中被捕的飞行员停职，同时管理层决定，不允许任何支持抗议活动的飞行人员飞往内地。
